Steve specializes in dam safety engineering and has 30 years of experience as a dam safety engineer/inspector for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. He conducts dam safety inspections, audits Owner’s Dam Safety Programs, facilitates potential failure mode analyses, assesses hazard potential and spillway adequacy of hydropower dams, and evaluates technical and design reports, construction plans, and specifications.
Since joining Kleinschmidt in January 2017, Steve has worked on several FERC Part 12D inspections, four as Independent Consultant and three assisting the IC. He has audited the Owner’s Dam Safety Programs for three FERC license holders.
Steve has his B.S. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University, B.S. in Physics from Davidson College and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois. He is an active member of the United States Society on Dams (USSD) and the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO).
